Saturday morning, Jan. 23rd came early as the mobile toy boat collection left Tacoma at 6:45 AM and headed North on I-5 toward Qwest field, home of the Seattle Seahawks, for the task of unloading and setting up around 1500-2000 toyboats on display for the 2010 Seattle Boat show. Thanks to Associated Boat transport for a smooth and successful haul. Thanks to George H. and Sam, who work for NMTA, the semi and trailer drove right into the East hall and parked beside the layout where the carpet and all the tables were already in place for us to get right to work. We started unloading the trailer around 7:40. We unloaded around 200 boxes of all sizes and 7 glass showcases. Around 10:15 I had the privilege to begin opening the boxes and to start placing the toyboats and models on the tables. For the next 6 hours I continously opened boxes and emptied the contents by placing the boats on the tables. At 4:00 PM I decided to stop and head home for the evening. I felt real good about how the day transpired and its results. Rachel and I will be here early Sunday morning to get all the boats organized and placed on the tables.

Sunday, Jan. 24 Rachel and I started about 8:30 AM on the display. We made great progress until noon placing, organizing and wiping the models. About noon, Rachel and I discussed the tables were about full but we still had around 30 boxes that we hadn't unpacked. Two boxes I specifically wanted to display because one had my Tonka collection in it and the other had several models that I received from my Grandpa Andy Beard.I asked her if we should put the rest in the semi trailer and display only what we already had on the tables, and she looked at me and said, "This is a great opportunity to show your collection, Go for it!!!" Immediately we looked a each other and together said "we need more tables." We decided to add another row down the middle of the U-shaped, 2 levels of table layout that was already in place. Within 30 minutes, the NMTA had supplied us with the tables necessary to place more boats on display. It was now about 2:30, we just finished up the entrance display and decided to end our day and head home. We quickly made a short list of things to accomplish before we head back up in the next couple of days. The Bauer's Overboard Toyboat collection display looks great thus far!!!

Below, Julio and his crew are unloading the semi. Thanks again to Julio and his crew for their help.

The space was huge!! But I new I could fill up all the tables.

Boy, there are alot of boxes. It is time to start unpacking.

It was great getting the boats out again. It was alot of fun!

Above, Rachel broke her marriage prenup ("I'll never clean or dust your toy boats!!")

It's starting to come together quite nicely.

Again, you can throw the prenup out the door. Proof is in the photo of Rachel cleaning.

This is one of 3 boat phones that is in the collection.

I can remember playing with most of these boats as a child. Wait a minute, I'm 49 and I am still playing with them. Isn't life great!!!

It was all business, no time to waste.

The wooden boats are still my favorites.

One side of the display is almost complete.

In the photo above, I was 6 years old in the little photo that I am holding. This was a boat and water ride at Cedar Point Amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio.

My favorite Chris Craft  and my daughter (Whitney)  Barbie cruiser.

Here is the true Bauer's OVERBOARD Toyboats insignia.
